The brand-new role of Business Development Manager has arisen for an individual who has established senior connections in the NHS primarily in commissioning, tendering of contracts and assisting with Waiting List Initiatives with local CCGs.


To actively participate in the operation and development of the organisation, its people, systems, processes and resources, in order to support assurance to the Board regarding the coherent, effective delivery of the commercial functions in order to meet the strategic objectives and vision of the organisation.
The aim of the role will be to develop the business development strategy for the client and ensuring deliverance. This is a highly autonomous role and requires active participation in the operation and development of our client.

In this exciting role, you will work on a range of new and existing commercial projects with the following priorities:
· Commercial and strategic business case development: Lead on the development of systems and processes to underpin robust contract management and reporting. Producing documentation to support commercial decision-making by including detailed financial and activity data.
· Relationship Establishment: Connect with NHS/CCG contacts to establish pathways and mechanisms to utilise our client facilities to support NHS waiting lists/framework contracting agreements. The role requires the highest level of inter-personal, communication and influencing and negotiation skills to ensure delivery of objectives.
· Finance: Establish robust finance/payment agreements and processes ensuring our client continues to grow revenue with consideration for longer term expansion planning.

1. Key Relationships

The Board of Directors, Director of Operations, Clinician Leads, Local Authorities, NHS Trusts, CCGs and leads in Health organisations including links into procurement and tendering portals. Local Government agencies, Voluntary sector, and private sector organisations.

Key Areas:

§ Develop a strong and effective leadership role, together with the clients Chairman and Director of Operations.
§ Support and assist with the planning and strategic direction of the company, securing support and commitment of all staff and stakeholders including clinical engagement.
§ Engage with stakeholders in the business planning process and provide a business plan for the year ahead along with a key performance indicator (KPI) dashboard to monitor at all levels.

Operations/performance

§ To secure growth of NHS and Non-NHS income including growth into new business or service areas including Private Patient Income, working closely with, partner organisations providing support to all in preparing tenders. To actively participate in effective business case development.
§ Establish and manage a centralised contracting function incorporating all healthcare contracts, specifically those held with CCGs, NHSE, Local Authorities and all separate service level agreements (SLAs).
§ Highly developed technical knowledge of NHS contracts and framework agreements is required when discussing all contract matters including a thorough understanding of the legalities relating to service conditions and their practical application to the client.
§ Ensure that the client is compliant with all requirements of NHS contracts/framework agreements.
§ Engage with clinical leads, CCGs, and NHS trusts to identify all business growth opportunities.
§ To identify business risks and opportunities and contribute to the maintenance of the organisations commercial awareness.
§ To provide advice and technical support to the Operations Manager to enable them to focus on continual improvement of services while demonstrating continued improvements in value for money.
§ To contribute to the continuous improvement of organisations policies and procedures in relation to tendering and commercial developments.


The main office is based in East Grinstead with the other sites being in Oxshott and Harley Street. This job can be done from home but you would still need to go to the main office for your induction, metting the team and getting well equiped with how it works.
