Our client is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in their brand new purpose built Mental Health service d to open its doors in late Spring 2021, you will work 37.5 hours a week alongside a growing multidisciplinary team where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards and eight individual flats.

With experience from the NHS or private sector, you will have a background in working within an acute inpatient or community setting for CTT in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry, as you will be responsible for a caseload of up to 32 people.

This will see you oversee individual care reviews, care programme approach meetings, medico legal meetings, discharge planning meetings, MDT handover, ward community meetings, professionals meetings, delivering quality clinical services and devising strategic development plans.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will have both section 12(2) approval and approved clinician status and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Involvement in Southwest region network or other groups linked to the role
  • Work with an RGN to support physical health care
  • Supervision of associate specialists
  • Role in the assessment of referrals/admissions.
  • Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness
  • Mental Health Act implementation and liaison with Ministry of Justice
  • To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients including ensuring all NHSE contractual obligations are met (e.g. timely review of assessments etc in line with KPIs)
  • Contribution to clinical governance and responsibility for setting and monitoring standards
  • Participation in clinical audit and quality improvement activities
