Job Description
Carry out accurate physiotherapy assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with diverse clinical presentations and complex physical and psychological needs within the acute postoperative care and cardiothoracic environment. This involves the provision of physiotherapy services within the adult intensive care unit and adult surgical and cardiothoracic wards alongside other members of the physiotherapy team.

Duties & Responsibilities
Use advanced experience and practical skills to interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis & prognosis in a wide range of complex conditions, recommend the best intervention and develop comprehensive discharge plans
Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organise effectively and efficiently with regard to prioritisation and use of time.
Work with clinical service leads and head of department in implementing the operational management of the physiotherapy service in the intensive care unit, acute care / acute surgical and cardiothoracic specialities
Participate in the weekend on call rota and weekend staffing rota
Provide specialist advice, teaching and training to other MDTs as required in the acute care / acute surgical and cardiothoracic fields.
Responsible for own clinical caseload and the supervision of junior staff and their caseload where needed.


Skills & Experience
Physiotherapy degree qualification
HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) registration
Post registration experience within adult critical care, acute surgical, and cardiothoracic services
Previous experience within adult oncology services desirable
Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapists or equivalent is desirable
