JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Physiotherapist - Paediatric

Equivalent Level: Band 6 equivalent

Reports to: Occupational Therapy Lead (Paediatric)

Accountable to: Therapy Manager

Working Hours: 37.5 hours pw

Salary: £40,000 - £42,000

Role Summary:

You are a competent and keen paediatric Physiotherapist able to undertake all aspects of your clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

You will provide a client-centred and evidence-based service to an in- and outpatient caseload which mostly consists of children with orthopaedic and musculo-skeletal conditions, but may also include neurodevelopmental, neurological or respiratory referrals.

You will be expected to use your clinical reasoning and reflective practice to undertake specialist assessments and to provide individualised interventions for each patient. This will include equipment fitting as well as related staff training within your scope.

You are able to work flexibly during the week to accommodate before and after school appointments for patients within reason. You will have an opportunity to participate in ad hoc paediatric weekend service.

You will be expected to establish and maintain efficient communication within the multi-disciplinary team (both internal and external) to ensure a holistic and complete duty of care. This includes verbal, non-verbal or written communication, both in expression and active listening, to facilitate accurate comprehension of information.

You will act as a resource of specialist advice for patients, clients and colleagues within the scope of your experience and knowledge.

You are expected to support the overall day to day running and development of the Therapy Department and your area of speciality to ensure an efficient and safe service for all.

You will participate in hospital and departmental processes that support and encourage professional and personal development of yourself and your colleagues.

You will promote and adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and processes.

You will be expected to assist colleagues in other specialities as your caseload and competence allows.

You will support the hospitals vision, mission statement and values.

Clinical

  1. Practise as an autonomous and accountable professional using reflective practise and clinical reasoning in undertaking specialist assessment in order to provide an individualised treatment programme for each patient.

  1. To represent your patients' needs within the multidisciplinary team.

  1. To provide appropriate information, education and support for your client group and their families/carers.

Training and education

  1. To ensure all mandatory training requirements are met in a timely manner and according to the Hospital policy.

  1. To take responsibility for your own personal development and to identify and utilise potential learning opportunities in order to continue to meet the needs of your patients and colleagues. Evidence of this should be reflected in your continued professional development portfolio which aims to support successful audit and re-registration by the HCPC.
