As a Locum Haematology and Blood Transfusion Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality haematology and transfusion services, ensuring patient safety and compliance with NHS and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities include:
Performing routine and specialist haematology testing
Undertaking all aspects of blood transfusion testing, including crossmatching
Carrying out morphology and coagulation investigations
Operating and maintaining laboratory analysers, including Ortho Vision systems
Using laboratory information management systems (WINPATH), with Blood 360 experience desirable
Ensuring compliance with UKAS, IBMS, and NHS quality standards
Participating in a 24-hour shift rota as required
Essential Requirements
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
Proven experience in haematology and blood transfusion within an NHS laboratory
Strong competence across morphology, coagulation, and transfusion testing
Right to work in the UK
