Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team providing specialist mental health services for children, adolescents, and their families. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive mental health assessments and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, supporting young people with a wide range of clinical, developmental, and mental health needs.
You will also have the opportunity to develop a therapeutic specialty area within the service, contributing to innovation and excellence in child and adolescent mental health care.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct high-quality CAMHS assessments for children, young people, and families referred to the service.
Provide a range of psychotherapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs, either independently or as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Manage a defined caseload and take responsibility for case management, including risk assessment and safeguarding.
Liaise with internal and external agencies to coordinate care packages and promote mental health awareness.
Provide consultation, advice, and training to professionals including GPs, Early Help services, Youth Offending Teams, and Education Services.
Deliver clinical and managerial supervision, review cases, and maintain accurate clinical records.
Participate in the CAMHS emergency duty rota, providing urgent assessments and support as required.
Contribute to continuous professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practices and legislation in CAMHS.
Qualifications & Experience:
NMC-registered nurse, social worker, or equivalent health/social care qualification.
Significant post-qualification experience in community mental health services, preferably to postgraduate diploma level.
Experience in multi-agency working, case management, and working with children and adolescents.
Knowledge of mental health issues affecting young people, relevant legislation, therapeutic interventions, and youth justice services.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to undertake mental health assessments and deliver therapeutic interventions.
Effective caseload management and ability to work independently.
Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility, creativity, and resilience in a clinical setting.
Other Requirements:
Occasional evening and weekend work.
Access to reliable transport for travel across service areas.
Enhanced DBS disclosure required.
