Consultant Psychiatrist General Adult
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist, focusing on a registered GP working adult population. As a dedicated professional in this role, you will assume a crucial position providing clinical leadership to a Community Mental Health Team.

Located in the midlands with over 4000 staff, the trust operates from over 50 sites and serve a culturally and socially diverse population of 1.2 million spread over 172 square miles. They have an annual budget of £240 million and a dedicated workforce of over 4,000 staff - making them one of the largest and most complex Mental Health Foundation Trusts in the country.
Main responsibilities:
- Provide expert assessments for patients with mental health difficulties referred by General Practitioners from the designated catchment area or transferred from other services within the Trust.
- Develop risk assessment and management plans in conjunction with the Multidisciplinary team, service user, carers and other involved agencies and facilitate maximum empowerment of the service user and carer in developing informed choice of treatment interventions.
- Be the Responsible Clinician and be willing to undertake training to obtain section 12(2) MHA and renew this approval according to agreed procedures. Undertake assessments to include Mental Health Act assessments where appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of modern Community Mental Health Services.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of care planning through the MDT.
- Responsible for the prescription of appropriate treatments, including drug treatments.
- Regularly attend (at least twice per month) the local PCNs' Primary Care MDT with other provider partners in the wider Integrated Care system.

Minimum requirements for the Consultant Psychiatrist General Adult role is:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983).
- AC status.
- MRCPsych or equivalent.
- Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting.
- Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register.
- Able to participate in Consultant on-call rota.
- Able to travel.
