Consultant Psychiatrist in Rehabilitation
Location: Somerset
Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours a week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established 24 bed locked rehabilitation service for men requiring a medium-term placement focusing on active rehabilitation in order to progress into future community placements.
Key role and responsibilities for the Consultant Psychiatrist role:
- Management of complex cases.
- Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
- Liaison and collaborative working with care co-ordinators, commissioners, families and carers and other services/agencies.
- Mental Health Act implementation and liaison with Ministry of Justice (if applicable).
- Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working including oversight of the physical health management of patients in partnership with the visiting General Practitioner.
- Administrative duties associated with the care of patients including ensuring all NHSE contractual obligations are met.
- Contribution to clinical governance and responsibility for setting and monitoring standards.
- Participation in clinical audit and quality improvement activities and service/team evaluation and the planning of future service developments.
- Maintenance of professional registration with the General Medical Council and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
* The hospital runs a two-tier on-call system with first tier on-call provided by associate specialists and agency on-call. The post holder will be required to be part of the second-tier hospital on-call as the duty Responsible Clinician
Minimum requirements for the Consultant Psychiatrist is:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full GMC registration with licence to practice.
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- On the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or be accepted within 6 months.
- Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status.
- Previous experience working in rehabilitation settings is desirable.
