Sussex are seeking two exceptional Deputy Directors of Nursing who have a passion for excellence and want to make a difference in a challenging and complex environment.
We are seeking inspirational forward thinking and innovative individuals with the credibility, foresight and ambition required for these roles. You will build on the strong foundations created by the current Chief Nurse in partnership with the senior nurses. You will be determined, compassionate, action orientated, have a talent for inspiring and motivating teams, with a track-record of delivery together with experience of partnership working with external agencies. We want nurse leaders with a commitment to continuous quality and cost improvement with the ability to inspire staff to deliver and improve the care we offer our patients, ensuring best practice and value for money.
The Deputy Directors of Nursing will support the Chief Nurse at a strategic and operational level. The roles will work in partnership and be able to cover each others portfolios. The portfolios are Quality & Policy and Workforce & Professional Standards.
In 2020 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as Good overall, and Outstanding for being Caring and Effective. The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated Outstanding and Eastbourne DGH was rated Good Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services.

Experience
Essential criteria
· A minimum of ten years senior nurse management in a health care environment, of which at least 5 years should be above Head of Nursing and at least 2 at Divisional Management level or equivalent.
· Experience of managing an operational team, targets and budgets.
· Experience of implementing and leading significant change projects at corporate level in a multi-site organisation.
· Experience of multi-agency working.
· Experience of working with patients/service users to improve their experience.
· Experience in implementing safety/quality initiatives and service improvement projects.
· Experience in setting objectives and performance management and holding staff to account.
· Experience of effective workforce planning, and can demonstrate an understanding of establishment and acuity and dependency tools.
· Experience in providing advice on complex professional issues to the executive/non- executive team and all other levels of the organisation, external agencies and stakeholders e.g. NHSE, ICS etc.
· Experience of producing high quality reports in a timely manner for consideration at senior level internally and externally.
· Experience in the production and implementation of Trust wide policies that have taken into account national and local policy
· Experience of producing and presenting papers for and at Trust Board and other external groups or committees.
· Experience of offering senior Trust guidance on an on-call basis.
· Experience of carrying out complex internal investigations and production of action plans
· Experience of effective complaints management, with analysis and implementation of change.
Desirable criteria
· Experience of implementing and leading significant change projects at corporate level in a multi-site organisation.
· A sound understanding of working in an integrated trust providing community and acute services
