As a Prison RGN, you will provide high-quality general nursing care to patients within a prison setting. This includes performing health assessments, managing acute and long-term conditions, administering medications, and supporting overall patient wellbeing in line with clinical standards and prison policies.
This role requires clinical competence, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively within a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial health assessments and ongoing clinical reviews
Deliver primary care and acute nursing interventions
Administer and manage medications in line with PGDs and prison protocols
Support management of long-term conditions
Respond to urgent healthcare needs and medical emergencies
Collaborate with GPs, mental health teams, and prison staff
Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
Promote infection control, safeguarding, and patient wellbeing
Adhere to prison security procedures and healthcare policies
Requirements
Registered General Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration
Active prison clearance (essential)
Previous experience in a prison or secure environment (preferred)
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and manage challenging situations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
