As a Prison RMN, you will provide high-quality mental health care to patients in a prison setting. You will assess, plan, and deliver care for individuals with a wide range of mental health needs, contributing to risk management and rehabilitation efforts.
This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work independently, and experience working in secure or challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct mental health assessments, care planning, and risk assessments
Deliver therapeutic interventions and crisis management support
Support patients with complex or enduring mental health conditions
Collaborate closely with GPs, psychologists, prison officers, and the wider MDT
Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
Promote safeguarding, risk management, and patient wellbeing
Ensure adherence to prison security protocols and healthcare policies
Contribute to service improvement and continuity of care
Requirements
Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration
Active prison clearance (essential)
Previous experience in prison or secure mental health settings (preferred)
Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures
Ability to work independently in a structured, secure environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
