Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry
An opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join the team in secure care and offender health, working within the community based forensic outreach and liaison service, known as the FIRST team. The appointed person will work under the supervision of a consultant forensic psychiatrist, within a multidisciplinary clinical team, to provide person-centred, recovery based forensic mental health care, primarily for adult men in the community.

The team are contracted to provide psychiatric input to the local HMP.
Main responsibilities:
- To take a lead role in planning and delivering care for service users, supporting and deputising for the consultant psychiatrist.
- To take psychiatric histories, perform mental state examination and formulate this information in a structured manner
- To formulate and implement the initial and continuing treatment plan.
- Supporting staff to manage psychiatric emergencies.
- To conduct patient reviews and lead Multidisciplinary reviews, CPA reviews and multi-professional meetings.
- To offer regular reviews of community patients and work with community team to assess patients and implement the treatment plans.
- To write Mental Health Review Tribunal Reports (under supervision).

Minimum requirements for the Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry role is:
- Primary medical qualification.
- Full GMC registration.
- Able to travel.
- Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team.
- MRCPsych - desirable.
- Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 - desirable.
- Experience of and demonstrable interest in forensic psychiatry.
