An exciting opportunity is available for an Elderly Care consultant to work in the community and across the hospital service. The Physician in Elderly Care Medicine will play a central role in providing clinical leadership, including readily available clinical support and advice to community colleagues (e.g., District Nurses, Community Matrons, and Therapists) and GP colleagues.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Rota responsibilities between Hospitals, the Community Assessment Unit, and the Community Frailty service.
  • Providing clinical advice for Primary care frailty MDTs.
  • No on-call duty attached to this post.

Minimum requirements for the Physician in Elderly Care Medicine include:

  • Medical degree and preferably MRCP.
  • GMC registration.
  • Applicants must hold (or be within 6 months of completing) a CCT or hold a CESR in the specialty of Geriatric Medicine.

Based on the south coast of England, the role involves a central role in the development and delivery of community services in the locality. The post can be tailored to the individual interests and needs of the post holder, including acute sessions and specialist interests such as research, professional development, etc. Mentorship and support to develop skills are encouraged and supported within job planning.
