Consultant Psychiatrist General Adult Community

Hours: Part Time - 7 sessions per week
Salary: £99, 532 - £131, 964 pro rata p/annum

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist General Adult Community to work alongside 4 other Consultant Psychiatrists in the hub, which covers a registered GP working adult population.
The post will attract 7 Programmed Activities per week with 5.75 PAs for direct clinical care and up to 1.25 PAs for supporting professional activity. There is a Senior on-call rota which is remunerated at 3%.

The Community Mental Health Services are well-established teams and we are taking part in the National Community Mental Health Transformation programme as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of national and regional change and innovative developments in the delivery of community mental health care. There is significant investment that comes along with the transformation enabling expansion of our mental health services into Primary care, Personality disorder pathways.
Key responsibilities for the Consultant Psychiatrist General Adult Community role:
- Provide expert assessments for patients with mental health difficulties referred by General
Practitioners from the designated catchment area or transferred from other services within
the Trust e.g., Home treatment, RAID (psychiatric liaison services in Accident and
Emergency departments) and formulate care plans informed by best evidence-based
practice.
- Develop risk assessment and management plans in conjunction with the Multidisciplinary
team, service user, carers and other involved agencies and facilitate maximum
empowerment of the service user and carer in developing informed choice of treatment
interventions.

- Proactively liaise with other mental health teams and primary care to ensure continuity of
care and appropriate information sharing.
- Contribute to the development of modern Community Mental Health Services, by actively
contributing to continuing service improvements, in line with the Long Term Plan (NHS
England), the Community Mental Health Transformation (NHS England) and the Trust's
Clinical Strategy (2021).
Minimum requirements for the Consultant Psychiatrist General Adult Community are:
- Full GMC registration
- MRCPsych or equivalent Eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983) and Approved Clinician status.
- MRCPsych or equivalent.
- Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting.
- Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register
- Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions.
- Able to participate in Consultant oncall rota.
- Able to travel.
