Are you looking to progress your career and be part of a new and exciting partnership venture with an NHS Trust while making a vital contribution to the lives of young people aged 13 - 18 with general mental health Tier 4 presentations including disordered eating? This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand new 12 bedded CAMHS service in Surrey.

As an Inpatient Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist you will be seconded to the NHS Trust through a hybrid clinical and operational model, you will deliver an evidence-based and focused treatment plan to support the children and young people, and their families, as they progress through their care plans to understand eating behaviours and restore physical health.

You will work alongside the talented and experienced multidisciplinary team to create tailored treatment programmes to support the individual needs of each young person within a warm and nurturing environment. This will allow you to understand symptoms, patterns and origins of psychological distress.

You will also be required to take part in the On Call Consultant rota.

Key role and responsibilities for the Inpatient Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist role:

  • Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
  • Conduct admission assessments and maintain effective management plans of all young people on the unit
  • Conduct risk assessments and review regularly
  • Allocate specialist psychological treatments in line with individual needs
  • Assess physical health
  • Ensuring effective liaison with referring teams
  • Facilitating regular CPA review meeting
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for young people detained under the Mental Health Act
  • Involvement in quality, inspections and governance processes

Minimum requirements for the Inpatient Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist is:

  • Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a licence to practice
  • Experience of CAMHS Forensic and/or Eating Disorders desirable
